Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Cookies

I found this recipe last week and knew on the next rainy day that I was going to bake these.

It was rainy on Sunday and this little boy wanted some cookies.

Here is the recipe.

What you'll need:

A box of yellow cake mix
A bar of cream cheese
1 stick of butter
1/4 cup of powder sugar
1 egg
1/4t of vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to 350. Start by creaming the butter and cream cheese together. Add the vanilla and the egg. Stir in the box of yellow cake mix until the mixture is creamy. When the mixture is smooth, roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Then, roll the balls into a bowl of powder sugar until they are coated well. Place the balls two inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

The website says that the recipe makes about two dozen... But I ended up with 2 1/2 dozen. I also sprinkled the remaining powder sugar on top. Serve with cold milk.

They were delicious.

Breakfast Casserole

I have made this a few times, each time a little different just depending on what I have on hand. The great thing about this dish is that you can make it the night before and then pop it in the oven before your house wakes up.

What you'll need:
10 eggs
Small carton of butter milk
Bag of shredded cheese
1 teaspoon of dry mustard
Bag of hash browns (any style)
Breakfast meat (cooked) of your choice

Pre heat your oven to 350.

Hurry up before a hungry boy wakes up.

{I didn't have breakfast meat, so I just used lunch turkey}
In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and dry mustard. Set aside. In a 9x13 baking dish, spread out the bag of hash browns. Pour the egg mixture over the hash browns. Sprinkle half of the bag of cheese on top. Layer your breakfast meat on top of the cheese. Sprinkle on the remaining cheese.

Bake covered for 50 minutes.

Everyone will start to become happy when they smell what's cookin'.

{Serve with ketchup, syrup, salsa, or hot sauce}

Enjoy!

Haven's 1st Carnival

We had plans to go to the apple farm... But it is a 45 minute drive and someone was very cranky. We ended up going to a carnival at a co-workers church. They had a homemade dinner, cheap beer, blackjack tents, and carnival rides. Those Catholic's sure do know how to have fun.

We spent a little money on tickets, but Haven had more fun running up and down some hillside stairs before we headed home. It's so funny how the simple little things make him happy.

{It shocked him when the car took off}

{He never cried but he looked very unsure about this}

{Daddy giving him a pep talk}

{We both felt sick after this...Haven threw up a little bit of his dinner and then tried to put it back in his mouth...Ew}

It was a fun time... But the only thing I could think about was dousing his hands with some soap when we got home.

Fall Decorations

All of my favorite blogs are posting their Fall decor... So I thought I'd share with you my little pumpkin collection. Most of my pieces come from Marshall's, garage sales, and Dollar Tree. I don't think I spent more than $6 on any one piece.

{I had this glass hurricane, but nothing for it. I ended up going to Dollar Tree and spending $3 buying a strand of leaves and two pieces of faux fruit. For Christmas, I'll fill it up with old ornaments.}

{Everything on the mantel was purchased at Marshall's with the exception of the strand of leaves I bought at Dollar Tree. }

I also got crafty and made a wreath for my door... But let's just say that I should have splurged the extra $5 for something at the store.

We are cleaning up the front yard today so that I can put up my scarecrow and buy some mums. I'll post pictures when it's complete.

Happy Fall!! :)

Puppy Dog

Haven is so in love with Chauncey. He just absolutely adores everything the dog does. His new thing is to get into Chuncey's kennel and lock himself in there. If he is lucky, Chauncey will join him.

Usually though, it's just Haven in there alone, panting like a puppy dog.

Banana Nut Muffins

I'm so mad that I didn't get a picture of the final product. I don't know what I was thinking.

Anyway, here is the recipe and what you'll need to make a dozen muffins...

2 bananas
6 tablespoons of butter (3/4 stick)
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
3/4 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350.

Mix the flour, baking powder, and baking soda and set the dry ingredients aside. Cream the sugar and butter. One by one add the oil, eggs, vanilla, and the bananas. Then, add the flour/baking soda mixture. Fold in the walnuts, if you wish.

Pour mixture into a greased muffin pan, filling the cups 3/4 of the way full. (When I make these again, I will slightly flour the greased muffin pan-- My muffins still had a hard time coming out.)

Toss in the oven for 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

If you're feeling really naughty, spread a pat of butter on top of your warm muffin... And enjoy bliss!

Doll House

We were at Chris' grandma's house last weekend. I was telling her how Haven loves playing with little figurines and furniture. She mentioned that there was a doll house down stairs that had belonged to one of the girls when they were younger... and that if we wanted it, we could take it back for Haven. My sister and I found the doll house, a box of furniture that went with it, and packed it up.

Haven didn't leave the sitting room for 8 hours!

I know he is a boy... blah blah blah... But he has been keeping himself busy. :)

Happy Birthday, Chris!

My husband and I love watching cake shows. He has mentioned a few times how he would love to have a birthday cake that resembled his beloved dog, Chauncey. I knew I had to make this happen for his birthday.

Needless to say, he was so surprised.

If you live in the St. Louis area, please check this lady out! Great cakes at a great price. :)
