Almost There!

Photobucket

Today is my last day of work. Being Mother of the Year, I still plan on taking Haven to school and lounging around the house alone these last few days.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and I've dilated to a 3. My doctor is still confident that he will see me this weekend, but if not, then I'll be induced on Tuesday.

He also did a membrane strip-- Anyone familiar with this? From what I understand, with a gloved hand, they separate the bag of water from the side of the uterus. I guess it releases some hormones that could help the uterus start contractions. I've read where other blog-moms have done this, but they all described it as really painful. Mine wasn't painful at all, so I'm not sure how aggressive he did it. Rupturing the membranes is when they physically break your water- which will happen Tuesday morning, if Miss Olive decides to stay put.

Are you enjoying this visual with your breakfast?

I was induced with Haven... He was four days overdue and ended up weighing 9lbs 9oz. Being induced was rough for me and I've been trying to avoid that at all costs. But then you get to the final week or so... and you get to this point where your child could have 5 eyes and three arms and you just want to get it over with already.

The only difference this time is that I wasn't dilated at all when I was induced with Haven... and now I've made some progress on my own.

I'm doing my long, uphill walk after work tonight.

{38 weeks, 1 day-- 6am solo photshoot at work}

Stats: Up 32 pound-o's, still having a girl, craving anything I can shovel in my mouth since portion control starts Wednesday, and just day-dreaming of how wonderful Christmas will be this year.

  1. I hope you go into labor on your own too! I was induced this time (Simon was 11 days late....and 9lbs 8oz). I really didn't want to be induced but I was so ready to get it over with. They striped my membranes with both and it didn't seem to make much difference, as both kiddos came late. I hope it works for you though!

    The last few weeks are sooooo exciting and so frustrating at the same time. You're right though, your Christmas will be extra amazing this year. :) Hang in there, can't wait to hear the news!

  2. My OB stripped my membranes a couple of times and I still went two weeks past my due date with Isabella. When I was finally in labor because I was having a gross amount of bleeding and contractions that lasted about 10-15 second and then I'd get a 45 second break........contract again.......I went in to the hospital. They looked at me and smiled after they checked me for the first time and said, "You are dilated to a three already!" I was dilated to a three when I was about 38 weeks pregnant!!!

    Keep that baby in there as long as possible. They sleep better and are so much happier the longer they cook.

    And Friday~~ Imma be at Pauls early in the morning. Want to join me? I'll be there with Joey

  3. Having my membranes stripped was miserable, and I cramped all day for no reason, like 3 appts in a row. UGH! Glad yours was bearable. Hoping little miss makes her arrival this weekend. I'll say a prayer for you. Can't wait to hear all about her arrival, and see what she looks like :) YAY! Still looking adorable. Pretty sure I didn't do my hair at all at the end, ha!
