Winter Sickness

Photobucket
We have all had the bug... The fever... chills... coongestion... and cough.
I thought maternity leave was going to be spent eating debbie cakes and kissing all over my newborn... But instead, it's been bleaching, cleaning, wiping, nose sucking, and hiding for my life.
Cheers to hoping this week gets better! :)

Wednesday Randoms

I'm a week behind on reading my blogs. Instead of napping today, I'm going to play catch up. Thanks for all the sweet comments about Olive and Chris' grandma. It was a roller coaster week, but we're back to our new normal.

Transitioning to a mom of 2 has been easy-- knock on wood. It really feels like Olive has always been here.

Last night Haven puked on me while I was feeding Olive. Such a glamorous night we had.

I started writing Olive's birth story, but I almost feel like I'm bragging if I publish it. I literally felt no pain and the actual pushing part was less than 5 minutes.

I just discovered Netflix. I'm on episode 25 of Parenthood-- it's such a good show (thanks, Megan!).

And here is an iPhone dump of my little beauty. :)

Happy hump day!

Olive Betty

Two pushes and a cough was all it took. On Tuesday, Olive Betty Stanfield was born at 2:20pm, weighing 8lbs 9oz. She has the sweetest face and thickest blonde hair I've ever seen.

Chris' grandma Betty passed away over the weekend. Olive's name is a tribute to her. The hospital let us check out early so that we can attend the funeral.

We're on our first road trip as a family of four. I'm posting from my phone on the highway now... But I'll have more details to share tomorrow.

I love how many blog friends I've never met or just met once, that emailed, text, and facebooked me over the past two days. I love our little community. :)

Almost There!

Photobucket

Today is my last day of work. Being Mother of the Year, I still plan on taking Haven to school and lounging around the house alone these last few days.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and I've dilated to a 3. My doctor is still confident that he will see me this weekend, but if not, then I'll be induced on Tuesday.

He also did a membrane strip-- Anyone familiar with this? From what I understand, with a gloved hand, they separate the bag of water from the side of the uterus. I guess it releases some hormones that could help the uterus start contractions. I've read where other blog-moms have done this, but they all described it as really painful. Mine wasn't painful at all, so I'm not sure how aggressive he did it. Rupturing the membranes is when they physically break your water- which will happen Tuesday morning, if Miss Olive decides to stay put.

Are you enjoying this visual with your breakfast?

I was induced with Haven... He was four days overdue and ended up weighing 9lbs 9oz. Being induced was rough for me and I've been trying to avoid that at all costs. But then you get to the final week or so... and you get to this point where your child could have 5 eyes and three arms and you just want to get it over with already.

The only difference this time is that I wasn't dilated at all when I was induced with Haven... and now I've made some progress on my own.

I'm doing my long, uphill walk after work tonight.

{38 weeks, 1 day-- 6am solo photshoot at work}

Stats: Up 32 pound-o's, still having a girl, craving anything I can shovel in my mouth since portion control starts Wednesday, and just day-dreaming of how wonderful Christmas will be this year.
