It is for real.
I took Olive to her 4 month check up on Friday. Her pediatrician shined a light into her eyes and noticed something. Any time you hear that something might be wrong with your child {at least for me}, you can go into a shut-down mode.
I went into shut down mode.
He thinks that she has some eye condition that some albino people are born with that causes them to have poor vision. Her eyes tend to move back and forth... and sometimes, in different directions. It's not all of the time, but we have noticed it here and there. I thought it was because she was just a newborn trying to gain focus.
So then I call my sister, Noel. You can read all about Noel HERE, HERE, and HERE. She is a real gem. She was like, "Yeah, I noticed that, too. And it reminded me of MTV's True Life, 'I am an Albino,' where this lady had crazy eyes and couldn't focus."
Oh, Noel, you know how to make me feel good. Anyone who has ever met Noel is probably laughing right now. Everyone else is feeling sorry for me.
Olive's eye appointment is next week. I wish it was today so that this anxious feeling would shake.
In the meantime, Chris got snipped on Friday, which only added to the family circus we had Friday night. :)
He gets annoyed when I talk about his bowel movements and functioning organs, but it's my blog... and I do what I wannttt.
I have my hair appointment tonight. It's my every-8-week-overpriced treat to myself. By week seven, I'm feeling like a troll, so after tonight, I'll be back to Happy Holly again {and broke, right Amy?}.
Happy Monday!

Hang in there, Momma. Chances are, Miss Olive is PERFECTLY PERFECT. I know it's so incredibly stressful though. The NOT KNOWING is the worst part. I'll be thinking about ya!
ReplyDeleteAw, Olive will be okay! Glad your doctor appointment is soon. I am the queen of anxiety too so I understand it seems like a long time. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteOh geez friend, I can only imagine how you are feeling. I have been there. Like when Gabe was hospitalized at 10 days old...when I found out that Eden has 8 missing permanent teeth...when her Dr heard a heart murmur at a well check. It sucks and it is so easy to go worst case scenario. But the good news is, Olive is perfect just as she is. She will be fine, no matter what because she has the very best mommy & daddy that were hand picked to be there for her, to help her through life. So I will pray for you and her in the meantime and trust that every little thing is going to be just fine. Now go kick your sister in the butt.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Olive will be okay, but I know how stressful it can be when you think something may be wrong with your baby. I will be praying for her and for peace for you. Let us know how the Dr. appointment goes next week. Have fun at your hair appointment tonight. I REALLY need to get in and see Erin. I'm ashamed to say its been since November that I've gone to get my hair cut or colored!! Its just so hard to spend that kind of money on my hair, but she does such a good job, I'm afraid to go any where else.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she will be just fine, but I understand your anxiety and worry. :( Will be thinking of you, keep us posted. :) Now enjoy your hair appointment. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she'll be ok! Don't stress. I know how ard it is though. When Cooper's eyes first crossed I was so freaked and panicked I didn't know what I was going to do. Thankfully they got him into a opthamologist quickly, but any waiting is difficult. I'll pray for her and you for having to wait.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're going to be Happy Holly again, you deserve those every 8 week appointments! :)
Okay, no worries on Olive!
ReplyDeleteThe hubs had the same thing as a baby (I told you they are probably his kids) and he had to have a couple eye surgeries as a baby and all is fine now.
So even IF that is the case, everything will be alright!
Also, I'm totally jealous of your husband's blank shooting penis.
I have asked mine to do that several times and he refuses at the moment.
I was talking to him about doing a full marathon in December and do you KNOW what his response was??
AND I QUOTE:
"You may be pregnant by then."
WHAT!?!?!? NO I WILL NOT!!!!!
I wanted to snip him myself at that very moment.
In other news, quit sleeping with my husband and making little blonde babies.
Please and thank you. :)
Okay I wish you would have asked me about our eye guy. He is so awesome and he could tell me the world is ending and the way he'd say it, wouldn't seem like such a bad thing. He's very knowledgeable and has a bedside manner that is great. A combo not usually seen.
ReplyDeleteDr Hokel or Hoekl or Hokle.....spelling is not my thing.
And you know what? If she has what I think she has by your description I know a girl who had it (and there are a couple of famous people too but I can't remember a single name!) anyway the girl who had the eye condition is just fine and could see just fine with glasses. She was the cutest little thing.
(One of the famous guys was a super smart science guy that I have no idea what his name was/is)
Oh gosh. I hate that. I'm sure it's nothing and just something they want to double check on. I will be thinking of you and hopefully you can keep busy and try not to let it get to you. Enjoy your hair appointment. Haven't had mine colored in awhile but had it cut a few weeks ago and just going and having someone else wash my hair was SO nice!
ReplyDeleteHolly, I nominated you for another blog award. Check out my latest blog post. :-)
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on Olive. I'm not sure how he could diagnose such a thing just by looking at her eyes in the office.
