Before I went out for my jog, I had to water my neighbors yard since she is out of town. Her yard looks like the Botanical Gardens, and I kid you not, it took me 50 minutes to soak everything.
By the time I finished, my tennis shoes were sopping wet, from one of the ground sprinklers exploding on my feet.
I decided to go to the track anyway, even though my shoes weighed 5lbs each. It felt like I was sticking my foot into a jar of jelly.
After I go there, I just wasn't feeling it...
It was 100 degrees.
I was running out wide around parents who were standing on the track to watch their kids play JFL.
And I noticed that I have cankles.
So I took my pity party home.
I'm going back tonight. I will do this. I wish I could just pay someone to chase me.
-----
UPDATE: I went back to the track tonight... I finished the 3.2 miles under 35 minutes. My goal is to get this under 30 minutes by Labor Day. You would have thought I was chasing the ice cream truck.

Also, I have went to respond to a lot of your comments, but many people don't have their email address linked to their comments. Click HERE for some instructions, so that I can add you to the list of people that I send daily novels. :)

Haha too funny... girl... At least you are out there running! that's more than I'm doing these days :)
ReplyDeleteI have the worst legs, I hate them! BUT running makes me feel like they will look better when I'm done so I just do it :)
ReplyDeleteOMG. I fixed the e-mail thing! Hope we can be bff's now. Did my C25K last night...I am slow. I get excited when I can pass walkers. I am that slow.
ReplyDeleteLOL... love your writing style. Hilarious. Thanks for putting your sense of humor in your blog :) annie-simplify.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou didn't fail, you've just got to do it tonigh! I haven't ran in over a week, it's just too darn hot out there and with the 30 day shred, I just haven't felt like doing both. I AM determined to run again on Saturday. I bought the bridge to 10k app last night, I'm hoping I can make it through day 1. Also - I cannot run my 3+ miles in 30 minutes either. I get 2.5 maybe???
ReplyDeleteThere is now a zombie android AP that helps with running. It uses the GPS in your phone and a set of earbuds. You start the AP and then it gives you directives. Like run hurry you have been spotted by a zombie ect.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Week 3 of the c25k program, and was just telling my friend the other night that I'm pretty sure I'm the slowest runner ever! :-) She lives down south and we are doing the program together. She's visiting me this weekend and I can't wait to see who actually has the slower pace ha! But I did read something that says speed comes with time and fitness and not to worry about it too much. I guess I am in awe of being able to run 3 minutes at once (is that pathetic or what??) and am not too worried about speed yet. Hope you have a good run next time around.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for getting out there and running. BTW, you do not have cankles!
ReplyDeleteOMG you do NOT have cankles! Great job for keeping trying though. I can't do the 3.2 under like 40, so don't feel so bad.
ReplyDeletea) I've seen cankles. Those ain't cankles.
ReplyDeleteb) It takes time! Have you thought about trying to find a running buddy? That helped me. I found one who was pregnant so she didn't mind going slow. Hehe.
you so do not have cankles!! are you still doing the couch to 5k or have you stopped? i'm doing the couch to 10k but doubling it because i want to run a 10k by September! good luck :)
ReplyDeleteI will bring my running shoes this weekend, and we can run together in the AM before it gets too hot!
ReplyDeleteI am in the cankle boast as well. Every time I look at my cankles I think back to that Shallow Hal movie. :( Lets kick thses cankles girl! At least you're attempting to run, more than I can say for me in the last month. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteSpeed takes time. And anyone who runs fast in the heat is a freak. You got out and that totally counts!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay so I found you through MamaL's blog and I am so very glad that I did! I have been going through the archives to get caught up and I have to tell you I love the blog! (Great now I sound like a creeper...) Anyhow good on you for even attempting to run in this Missouri heat!
ReplyDeleteA. You don't have cankles! And B. a 5k is 3.1 miles so that will take a bit off your time!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing a 5k running program since February and I'm STILL not under 30 :( I ran one yesterday in 35 and almost cried with joy. I am thinking once it cools off again (I live in Texas..freakin hot) I will be able to control my breathing and pick up the pace more! I'm excited to have found your blog! :)

Oh lady. I am slowwwwwww like so embarassing slow!!!!!!!!!!! But as my husband reminds me I'm not trying to win a race and anyone that wants to make fun of how slow I am....I don't see them out running!!! I am also hoping that maybe once it cools down it will help....seems like an excuse but I just feel like it would be 'easier' in the cooler weather. AND those aren't cankles!!!
