I love Chicago, but I suffer from extreme home sickness. It might make me sound pathetic, but I really don't like leaving my house. When I get ready somewhere else, I don't ever feel I look as good. I only like the taste of water from my house. I miss sleeping with Haven's foot in my side. I really do like playing dead while Chris gets up with Olive. I want it all right now.
But, the great thing about this trip was that a few people I know were also in town.
Like Aly!
For the record, Aly is exactly how you would imagine her to be. Very relaxed, gorgeous, perfect teeth, etc. We ate nachos, went to a dive bar, and quizzed Chris on all the hot blog moms. You're still in first place, Mama L.
Chris came into town to see his friend. They were going to hang out for the day and then he was going to meet up with me that night. Then as he was getting ready to board his flight, his friend called and said he couldn't hang out. What? His friend has mild Asperger's and Chris is used to giving him his space. But this also met that Chris was left to wonder Chicago all day by himself, with a red bathroom bag that matches my luggage. He looked like a homeless hipster. :)
Anyway, Chris is home with our babies now... and all is well here.
I've been eating delicious calories and nursing my food baby with some Mint Oreo gelato.
Back on the badwagon when I get home. Debating about going into crazy mode with p90x or putting up with Jillian's voice again by doing Ripped in 30....
What's your favorite workout DVD?
Do you get homesick?

So jealous that you and Aly got to meet! I think I live in blognowhereland and y'all are either all in TX or up North!! Looks like you had a great time though :) I get homesick after a couple of days away...hotel beds suck and I miss my super comfy pillow top with my extra squishy comforter. I miss coffee with my vanilla caramel creamer and a real selection of food for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteMint Oreo gelato...mmm.
Awww a reunion. Loves it! Do Ripped in 30 - mine is coming from Amazon any day now!
ReplyDeleteYUM gelato! I'm with you on missing the family, but I LOVE to travel, so as long as they are with me, I'm home. Have a great rest of your trip!
ReplyDeleteDamn right we ate nachos! I mean I devoured them since I was mildly drunk. How embarrassing. Loved meeting you and wished we lived closer so we could be BFF's and workout together! Chris was a blast too.
ReplyDeleteoh fun, Holly! You can always mute the Jillian. xxx
ReplyDeleteYes, I get very homesick!! I have NEVER been away from Drew yet, and haven't been away from Cole for more than 1 night at a time, and he was 3 minutes down the road at my parents house!! That's awesome that you hung out with Aly, and she does have perfect teeth! haha....crap, now I want nachos!! :) Funny that you said you never feel like you look as good when you get ready somewhere other than home! I feel that way too! We travel a lot since everyone in my family, (except my parents) live an hour and a half away in my hometown. So lots of weekend, and holiday trips! I always feel that I don't look good! I think it's because I only have so many options...which is the stuff I packed. At home, I can change things up more..pull out a whole new outfit if I want. I feel trapped when I am somewhere else! Make sense?
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think ya'll are both gorgeous with perfect teeth! Sounds like a such blast. I too get terribly home sick, there's just no place like home!
ReplyDeleteWork Out DVDs- Brazil Butt Lift is a personal fav. it's fun and funny to do. Boooty work!!!
Hope you have a great day!
So cute! Maybe if you visit Atlanta we can meet and eat terrible things together too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am the same way about being away from home. The water at my house does taste so much better then anywhere else and waking up without a babies head in my armpit is just strange. I've never tried P90X, I have a hard enough time commiting to 30 days can't imagine 90. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteBut a night alone in a hotel room with your hubby?! Ow ow!!
ReplyDeleteLol a homeless hipster. Hahahah!
I get homesick when I leave baby girl for a few hours- ha! But her smile when I walk in the door and my refreshed spirit make it all worth it! You should get HUGE smiles and feel REALLY refreshed! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGelato... I want some:) Looks great. Homesick "meh" maybe after the 3rd of 4th day.. ha.. no kidding. I know - I think after this half marathon I am going to kick it into high gear and start listening to JM's antics again. Oh joy...
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I'm mega jealous of the nacho's...I had a grilled cheese sandwich last night (as a splurge...followed by some kid-z bars I found in the "school lunch supply cupboard") and now I'm realizing I could have done so much better with making those splurge calories mean something (as in taste better). I'm having calorie usage regret.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing Ripped in 30 and it always makes me incredibly SORE. But I like it because it's less than 30 minutes and P90X is like an hour - I must have commitment issues because that just feels like too long. ;)
I did P90. It's a great workout, but I got tired of listening to him. I did 2 rounds of it. I don't know that I've ever been so strong. It's longer than Jillian- P90 workouts are 50-90 minutes. It's a good system though.
ReplyDeleteHomesick? Heck no! I love traveling! I don't do it often and when I do it's only for 2-3 days. If I were gone longer I would surely get homesick. I love my boys but occasionally Mama needs a break! That probably sounds bad of me to say. I don't normally get a lot of me time so I look forward to a little travel here and there.
Ok first of all I am totally jelly that you and Aly got to hang out, I love you both! Ahh! Second, I do also get homesick. I enjoy traveling and seeing new sights but I always miss my own bed, my own kitchen, my dogs and cats... I am glad I am not the only adult that feels this way my friends think I'm cray cray :)
ReplyDeletecaliforniagrownblog.blogspot.com
Hahaha. You're too sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteLove you!
I don't anyone else who gets homesick like me, so glad to know you do, too! I am a little crazy about it, I'm not any fun to travel with. ;) I am going to the store tomorrow to get RI30, I hope you do it too so I know I'm not the only one putting up w/ JM. Have you joined ML's Fit Camp? they are doing a 31 day challenge in Ocotber, Make Jillian Your Biotch. So a few hundred of us will be suffering through one of her many DVD's for the month of October. Heaven help me!! I've been doing 30DS since last week until Oct 1, then I'm switching to RI30. I have also thought about getting JM's kickboxing DVD -- have you done that? Good luck in Chi-town!
ReplyDeleteI love Chicago! Its so fun there. I too get homesick though. I hope you're having a great time!
ReplyDeleteThat Gelato looks Uhmazing!
ReplyDeleteI never get homesick because I moved back to where I grew up after college.
I would rather run and do my own workouts than use DVDs but if I'm going to use them I definitely go for the Ten Minute Trainer DVDs and stack 2 workouts. They are Killer!
I am on week 3 of p90x again. Do it with me!!! Oh and I have spent 1 night away from crewe and he is almost 2, pathetic? You e the judge ; )
ReplyDeleteI so want the Gelato.....
ReplyDeleteYeah I get homesick every time, even on my honeymoon I missed home! I miss my little puppies!
As for workout videos....I have a whole collection of them and none that I love very much....but Insanity is pretty awesome....and Hip Hop Abs is always fun. Right now however I am really loving Blogilates workouts on Youtube! Fun and short but the squat challenge has my quads BURNIN'!!!
TURBO FIRE! It's so much fun, you will love it!
ReplyDeleteYou and Aly look gorgeous...as always! =) I do get homesick. I always plan trips and countdown and when I get there I get a little anxious and just want to go home. Weird. Hope you're having a good time!
ReplyDeleteI am doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred right now. Have you ever done that one? Just checking to see if you liked that one or the Ripped In 30 better? I've heard that Ripped is good!
ReplyDeleteI love Chalean from beachbody
ReplyDeleteLove Cathe Afterburn, & imax3. A fan of Jari Love Get Ripped series...total basement workout junkie mom!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sound like a total stalker, but I have to ask - were you staying at the Hilton Chicago last night? I was travelling for work and came out to get a cab and I SWEAR I saw you... I had a deer in headlights moment, and obviously felt like a total dork saying hi, but I had to let you know how cool it was to think I may have seen you! I just found your blog recently (Thanks to Mama L) and I am OBSESSED. Thanks for making me laugh so hard that my coworkers think I'm crazy! :) You're amazeballs!
ReplyDeleteBeth, I normally don't reply on the comments, so I hope you see this, Yes, I stayed at the Hilton-- you should have said something. It totally would have made my day. Were you here for ARMA? Shoot me an email! Your profile isn't connected to your email, otherwise I would email you back. :)
DeleteTotally get homesick! I hate staying away from home for more than a couple days. There's nothing like your own bed, your own toilet!!!!, and just your familiar surroundings!
ReplyDeleteI am the total opposite! I love leaving my house minus all the expenses the you rack up being away from home and not sleeping at all. But I love going to hotels and getting out of town for a few days. I wish we could do it more!
