Five Pounds, Five Months: Breaking Through the Plateau

If you're having plateau problems, I feel bad for ya son. I got 99 problems...

Wait, no. Just kidding.

It has literally taken me five months to lose five pounds. My last post was before Easter.

I quickly realized I couldn't keep doing the same song and dance to shake this weight.

Instead of eating whatever I wanted, within my calorie range, and doing cardio, I had to do more.

Eating clean... No bread, cheese {my first real love}, pasta, and sweets {my mistress}.

Training mean... Upping the cardio {my drug of choice}, adding strength training {my frenemy}, and stopping with the excuses.

And I am so, so good at excuses.

When I finally put myself on Lock Down, I got the job done.

My Teletubby Recap:

Side note: My picture at 160-- that's what all of my yearbook photos look like. Scared shitless.

And here is the 30lb comparison.

What is sad is the fact that I wore these pants at 170 in public. Like every day. With a baggy t-shirt, I didn't think they looked that tight.

That's how I know Chris is a chubby-chaser loves me. Because he never said anything. :)

But seriously, if you're stuck in the same spot... Try doing something different. Clean up your plate, switch up your cardio, and even try a work out DVD.

I'll be done with The Shred at the end of this week... and I'll talk about it more next week, but it has really helped me push through this plateau. Also, everyone that I have met through this little blogging community as been so encouraging. We all need to be guilt tripping motivating each other.

Come slap the Chips Ahoy! out of my hand.

So with that... Today is Monday. No better day to start on a new plan. :)

  1. Way to go Holly! You look amazing!!! Thank you for this post...I needed to see this. I am a little stuck and even though I ramped up my workouts, the food part is def the hardest. I don't WANNA give up my pasta and bread and all the good stuff *in my best little kid whiny voice* but it might be what I need to do in order to get out of the 140's. I am only 2 lbs away and it is sooo aggrivating!

Keep up the awesome work and you might need to come slap some Reese's PB cups and pasta outta my hands!!! :)

  2. Holla! I can tell a big difference in your waist and things. The Shred/ weights are the trick I think! Have you been tracking inches?
I woke up this morning and did the Shred before work and now I feel GREAT at work!

  13. First of all, at 170 you didn't look 170! I never would've thought it :) You are looking FAB! I started 30DS yesterday, took my measurements and pictures and even weighed myself, even though what I'm hearing is I'll see measurement changes before I see the number on the scale move. Thanks for the encouragement and the bravery it takes to post personal pictures to the WWW!

  37. Ah! I'm so happy for you! I checked out your blog from Sarah @ Newlywed...my little guy is 5.5 months old, I was about 5 pounds less then pre-baby after I had him. I quickly lost weight due to breastfeeding and being to tired to sit down with a bag of chips! I quickly gained by about 3 pounds after I quit breastfeeding, which I can deal with. But now I need to get toned and STOP the junk food binges! Your posts are inspiring and I hope I can kick my excuse habit and start!
