Television

Oh the ol telly....

I'm linking up with Shelli today to talk about favorite TV shows. :)

I never thought I was a big TV person, until we sold our house and went two weeks without cable.

Chris and I watch a lot of TV, but we're usually pretty far behind. We love recording shows and watching them on the weekends when we can fast forward through the commercials.

Favorite Shows:
Parenthood
The Voice
Tosh.0
Workaholics
It's Always Sunny
Homeland-- oh my gosh... My new love!
Honey Boo Boo

Let me talk about Honey Boo for a minute. This is coming from someone who is proud for never watching an episode of Jersey Shore or Teen Mom.

Chris on the other hand, lives for trashy television. Anyway, he recorded Honey Boo Boo (and what he lovingly calls Olive now) and loved it.

I held my ground. I refused.

Then one night, he begged for me "just to give it a chance."

And now I am hooked. Like, I want to make a Thanksgiving dinner, sit around a feast while watching Honey Boo Boo.

If you've seen the show, have you seen the episode where they make "Sketti"...? "Mama" makes "sketti" by boiling spaghetti noodles and then putting a bowl of ketchup and margarine in the microwave as the "sketti sauce." They then eat this "sketti" out of old Country Crock margarine tubs.

Then I died.

And of course, it left me curious. So, while making my own family spaghetti last week, I decided to mix a little ketchup and butter in a bowl with my noodles.

Verdict? Just as disgusting as it sounds.

Oh, Boo child!

  1. I haven't watched the show, but have heard so many people talking about it, I must give in one night and sit down and watch Honey Boo Boo.

The "sketti" sounds disgusting. I won't try that anytime soon.

    Ugh.

  2. I thought I saw all the Honey Boo Boo episodes but apparently I missed the "sketti" one. I may or may not be google-ing that episode at work.
I loved the "SHHHH it's a wig" episode. Ha! Thanks for linking up!

  4. OMG!!!!!!! I love Honey Boo Boo. Have you see the episode where Mama shows her toe at the waterpark? My 2 year old son who says words sporadically - if you say "Honey Boo Boo" he says "TOE". I think it scarred him for life. As soon as that part came on - I turned it right off. I have to say I am a Boo Boo addict.

  6. That's hilarious! I too wanted to gag when I saw this sketti concoction. My husband and I laugh so hard we cry watching Honey Boo Boo. I don't know who's funnier or grosser on the show but the mom and dad run a close race. Did you watch last night?

My favorite quote was, "YOU CANT TELL THAT PIG WHAT TO DO!"

Now, as of last night it's, "She's pretty...and I don't think she farts"

    It's horrifyingly hilarious.

    1. You took the words right out of my mouth. We find it hyterical, disturbing, entertaining, and everything that's wrong with "southern" (this ain't my kinda southern)society.

Second favorite quote from last night? Getting fitted for her dress,
"She lucky I didn't poke hers back!"

or the Mom- "I be short and fat she be short and fat it is what it is"

      Oh hunny. Oye!

  7. When you said you tried the ketchup butter mixture I threw up a little bit in the back of my mouth. Holly, I know you well enough to know that you'd do better with my own 'sketty' sauce. Which is quite divine if I do say so myself. I'll send you the recipe if you want it. Not quite a 'foodie' recipe but delicious nonetheless.

Also, you'll need to DVR the news for the 5 #1 salutes. See my Facebook for times. Ya know, because if Honey Boo Boo is worthy of DVRing so are my kids.

  8. You better Redneckognize! Zach and I watch it every Wednesday. It's so bad but I don't miss an episode. And I'm glad you tried out the secret sauce so I don't have to now :) When they played "Guess Who's Breath" I wanted to vomit! SO gross because you know they all smell like a fart. Every episode makes me feel really pretty :)

  9. I give you major props for watching Honey Boo Boo girl! I am just like Chris, I LOVE trashy tv!!! It's my lifeblood, seriously. I am addicted to Jerseylicious (I am on a mission for big hair and animal prints...its GONNA happen) and Big Rich Texas on Style Network. I can't help it. I've even gotten MrD to watch Jerseylicious with me and now HE likes it (but will never admit it, even if his life depended on it).

Ugh...that "sketti" sounds like barf! I get the shivers just thinking about it. You, Holly, are a VERY brave woman.

  10. HAHA!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has a secret obsession with Honey Boo-Boo! The sketti episode was....umm interesting to say the least. My personal fave is when they discuss Mama's "neck crust" That show is so disgusting it's addicting! I think we can all be thankful that we don't have a case of "forklift foot" LOL!

  11. I watched it, but in SECRET, lest I be judged. I love that you're "out" with your Honey Boo Boo obsession... you're braver than I am! Haha!

  12. I am sad BB was not on yo list! I have still not seen a honey boo boo episode! My daughter has though and thinks its hilarious. Maybe I will be suckered in watching it one day... But the sketti reference almost made this mama hurl out her insides just now so maybe not THAT episode!

  13. Ok so I have to admit... I have not yet been able to bring myself to watch Honey Boo Boo. I am always reluctant to hop on a bandwagon, then I am upset I didn't do it sooner, but I digress.

It's Always Sunny is one of my ultimate faves!!! Makes me laugh so hard I cry, and make ugly laugh faces. Good times.

    :)

  14. hahaha- I recorded the first episode. It is like a car wreck. I can't look away. I don't record it any longer BUT I do watch re-runs when I have nothing on the DVR. Only they could make all that stuff funny.

  15. I was telling Dereck about the butter and ketchup thing and instead of cringing in disgust (like us normal people) he made an "intrigued" face and said, and I quote, "That sounds kind of good."

And then it was my turn to die.

I still haven't seen one episode, but I really want to. I love Workaholics too! Tight butthole.

  20. Thanks for the blog comment Holly! Evelyn is perfect. Still can't believe she is about to be 12 weeks and STILL can't believe I have a kid. Don't think it's sunk in 100% yet.

  21. Holy eff. I can't believe you tried the "Sketti." As you know, I am a Honey Boo Boo fan myself! Glad to know it was as bad as I figured though. And I love Daniel Tosh. Seriously my husband should be worried. (not really, of course!) I'm positive we are BFFs!

  24. I have never watched Honey Boo Boo, but fun fact.... I used to call spaghetti "sketti" when I was under 7ish???? lol. I love the Voice and Always Sunny too! Great choices.

  25. I love reality tv!! I am sad to say that Real Housewives is my ultimate fav (especially NJ and OC), then Teen Mom and Jersey Shore. But I also really love the cooking shows like Top Chef, Chopped, Restaurant Impossible. Then there are the ones we watch with the kids like America's Got Talent and The Voice (Oh, Adam Levine!)

I think the only regular show I watch is Grey's LOL That and cartoons with the kids. That is pretty sad to admit!
