Since The Shred has been over, I am been rolling around in refined carbs and partial hydrogenated oils.
Big Holly finished The Shred last month HERE... and has only been lolly-gagging around since. I did start Ripped in 30-- but hated it. I missed The Shred... and Anita... and the other girl with amazing legs. {BTW... Check out Meredith's Shred results HERE.... Girlfriend killed it}
When I don't eat well, I get breakouts, I am tired, I am moody, I am She-Devil.
So I'm starting over... eating clean again... and retraining these taste buds that always feel like going AWOL when we're at the grocery store. The first three days always suck for me. Headaches, fatigue, grouchiness.... But after that third or fourth day, something just clicks.
I am not someone who can lose weight by just counting my calories. I have to run like Forrest every day. And I have to eat clean-- otherwise, it's just constant mind games with myself and I am miserable.
You know that word moderation? The bottom less pit that is my stomach has no idea what that means.
Like a true "Blog Mom," I posted a picture of my lunch on instagram. Some people asked for ideas about meals to eat clean. So I am going to show you options I have, as a vegetarian, and someone highly addicted to sugar. This is what I call The Withdrawal.
When I get into this mode... this is what I eat.
Breakfast- 20oz of water
Protein smoothie
2 hard boiled eggs-- without the yok and some cut veggies
Plain oatmeal with a banana
Luna bar
Snack- 20oz of water
Carrots
Green veggies
Walnuts
Berries
Natural applesauce
Lunch- 20oz of water
Lentil salad and a green veggies
Spinach salad with cottage and peppers
Naked taco with refried beans, avocado, and pico de gallo
Snack- 20oz of water
Carrots
Green veggies
Walnuts
Berries
Natural applesauce
Dinner- 20oz of water
Lentils and steamed veggies
Brown rice and steamed veggies-- faux stir fry
Egg white salad on top of spinach
I go to bed around 8:30pm, so I don't eat anything after dinner (5pm).
I've been super inspired by Leigh Ann to just cut the crap and make the sacrifices. My ego and pants will thank me later.
With that... I am restarting The Shred today!! Almost 30 days until Thanksgiving, where I will probably just throw this all to the birds anyway. {I don't know if that is a real saying or not, but it sounds right}
---
And one last thing.... There will be an awesome giveaway over here on Friday! Be sure to pop over and check it out!!

In the meantime, feel free to leave your favorite clean/lean meal ideas in the comments for other people to check out! :)

"When I don't eat well, I get breakouts, I am tired, I am moody, I am She-Devil. " ...basically the picture to the right sans breakouts ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's ok, I'm a she-devil too when I eat horrible. I just sent an email to my fit camp girls about needing to eat clean again. You have inspired me to make the jump. I'm addicted to sugar too. This should be fun for the next couple of days.
I signed up for an all womens boot camp. Maybe you could find one in your area? I'm intimidated by all the fit people at regular boot camps. Hopefully this will be a good jumpstart.
PS. Your wreath will be in the mail first thing this morning :) Hope your love it!
I think I'm grouchy all the time while trying to lose weight lol. That's dedidcation because all that food you just listed, seriously gagged me! haha. I have a lot to learn! lol. Do you have days where you just want to EAT! I seem to do well for a few days, then I just want to eat everything in sight! It's like a game to see how much I can actually eat that day without being hungry for any of it! So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI support you!
ReplyDelete*puts hair in pigtails and waves pom poms* GO HOLLY!!! You can do it mama!!!! I would love to be able to eat totally clean...but I'll be honest, it's not something I can bring myself to do. I try and eat as sensibly as I can (and I know there are areas for improvement...) but what you are doing is awesome and I applaud you for it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so there with you! I look like a teenager (on my face)that's pregnant (hello pooch) and needs to be on a McDonald's commerical thanks to all the processed food i'm eating. GROSS! I look forward to your meal ideas... while I have no problem eating my furry friends I do like the idea of clean eating!
ReplyDeleteWay to go!!! Jumping back on the bandwagon is hard.. I jump and jump and jump and just can't ever get high enough.. Thanks for giving me an extra leg up..
ReplyDeleteyou have way more self control than I do - I head to the diet dr on Monday!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! It is so tough those first few days as your body is trying to rid itself of all the bad stuff, but so worth it.
ReplyDelete"When I don't eat well, I get breakouts, I am tired, I am moody, I am She-Devil."--boy, are you sure you aren't talking about me ha! I'm the same way.
ReplyDeleteI've tried clean eating (several) times and always have great results and feel so good, but damn it's so hard to stick to. Let's face it, some days we just dont' have time to cook or we need something quick and easy and clean eating goes out the window and if you're like me I don't just fall off the wagon, I get caught under the wheel!! Anyways, I try to eat as healthy as I possibly can and make good decisions (until it's that time of the month and then I just want to stick my head in a bag of cheetos and eat milky way candy bars like nobodys business, hey don't judge lol :) Love your blog!!
AGH!!!!! I need to eat clean REALLY bad. I have this running thing down but it is NOT helping at all when I counteract it with tons of sugar. It is so hard... I wish I could get back on the Shred bandwagon but I am still allergic to JM for the moment. I can't wait for the give-a-way. YAY!!! You got this Holly girl - you so do:)
ReplyDeleteEating clean is soooo hard for me. I am addicted to Diet Coke and Cheeze-its. Like fo real. Before my wedding when I lost my first 30 lbs I ate almost 100% clean and felt so good. Then life started, my last year of grad school started, etc. and I quickly returned to my old eating habits. I am currently working on balance-- I think balancing in some clean meals would be a great idea for me! I would LOVE for you to keep posting things you eat... I love getting ideas from other people!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more on all of this... PS I LOVE THOSE FROSTED ANIMAL COOKIES WITH THE SPRINKLES... my fav for sure LOL
ReplyDeleteThat lunch looks yummy and those cookies are my fave but sadly not gf so I can't eat them anymore!!!
ReplyDeleteMmm...Yum. Jealous :) I am trying to use MyFitnessPal to track calories. I get grumpy to when I restrain what I eat. I do the best if I plan ahead what I'm going to have for dinner/dessert. Dinner is when it tends to all go downhill.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite breakfast: 1/4 c rolled oats, 1/4 c Shredded Wheat, 1/4 c Grape Nuts, 1/4 c Uncle Sam's cereal, 1 T ground flaxseed, 2 T raisins, a handful of walnuts, 1 chopped kiwi, 1 chopped banana, then with some almond milk on top. Delicious and very filling!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the tupperware? It's so cute! I've seen some of those "lunchables for grown-ups" meals on Pinterest, but I don't have anything with compartments, so I just stick to big salads (boring)!
ReplyDeleteBTW, your 30 shred results are fantastic!
Thanks for the shout out Holly, but you are a much better eater than I am! I always forget about lentils, they're a personal fav! What's that in the bottom left corner of your lunch? Do you have any tips for spicing up cottage cheese? I'm going to try and copy your diet for a day, that is some serious clean eating gf!
ReplyDeleteI fell of the Shred wagon about 8 days in when i started it for the October ML Fit Camp Challenge! So I'm going to join you in re-starting the Shred! Whoop! Whoop! Please keep me motivated! Text me pictures of you doing it and I'll text you mine - that'll be fun, right! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I haven't been doing terrible, but I've just lost my work-out juice (also called motivation) and even though I've been eating well (calorie-wise) I'm just not into the fitness part too deep anymore (which is what I NEED to do in order to tone up right now!). So....since I've been doing Ripped in 30 off and on for....FOREVER, I think I'm going to pick up 30DayShred and her No Trouble Zones and see how I do. :) I love your "real-ness" and how you just totally out yourself with no shame (ie: you admit that you're just like the rest of us - the only difference is that you're honest about it!). :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you do. Keep the updates coming - you're making me motivated!
::I just got the memo that the comment section on your blog isn't for personal "dear diary" submissions... so sorry for the freakishly long comment about MY fitness. I forget that it's not all about me. Oops.::
I need to do this too. yes, I've been doing C25k but I have been eating so much CRAP. Ahhh why does it taste so good?
ReplyDeleteWe are trying to eat meatless meals a few times a week so last night I made quinoa stuffed peppers and they were soo good! Cooked quinoa mixed with sautéed veggies and black beans in a red pepper topped with cheese and baked for 25min. Easy, healthy and delicious - the perfect trifecta!
ReplyDeleteI love making quinoa bowls. Fill it with lean meat (or something else if you are a vegetarian) - veggies... some kind of burrito bowl... quinoa is so good as a base to a healthy meal! and i'm all about the free stuff - bring on the giveaways!
ReplyDeleteOh how I LOVE the blog world!! Without you, Leigh Ann, Brandi L, and Megan I would be a lost goose! I am super pumped that you posted what you eat. When it gets tough just know that there are others out here doing the same things.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Thanksgiving? Those calories don't count sister :)
I had no idea you were a vegetarian! How long have you not eaten meat? What made you decide to stop eating meat?
ReplyDeleteUgh, why oh why can't I stop eating junk and get my show on the road to a healthier lifestyle? Good for you! And good luck w/ 30ds, tell Natalie hello from me. Oh, and flip JM the bird from me while your at it.
I hear you! I was doing so good, then I took 3 days off of work (to get ready for the 1st Birthday) and I lived on cherry coke, brownies, carbs and halloween candy. I am bad when i don't have a routine.
ReplyDeleteNow I broke out again...ughh..back to trying to be clean
How much do I love the little blog world and Instagram for checking everybody's lunches for the day :) You and I both fell off the eat well bandwagon, good luck girl, go kick ass!!
ReplyDeleteUntil I got to your"lunch" section, I thought you meant you ate all that for breakfast and snack. Obviously, I'm new to this. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like overnight oats, that I got from pbfingers.com
I alter it a little each time, but basically it's 1/2 c. oats, 1/2 c. milk, 3 oz. greek yogurt, 1 T. chia seeds (and I always add 1/2 a serving of protein powder) mix it all up, and top with fruit in the morning.
First of all you are not a fatty! I know how it gets though you get into a groove of eating unhealthy. I know you got this and will be able to get back into the swing of eating clean easily! I really like those whole wheat double fiber english muffins with 1 tblspoon of natural peanut butter for breakfast or for a filling snack!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your bday party stuff below! It is so cute, I'm going to have Kristen do Hunter's too (his bday is in December too....blah!)
Thanks for the shout out Holly! I wish I had the motivation to eat clean...the pounds would probably fall off, but I love food and wine too much. Keep it up girl, can't wait to see more result pics.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I love wine far too much as well!
DeleteThat made me chuckle too much not to let you know ;-)
Ummmm so how come nobody tells you that the 30 day shred goes from level 1 "what? are you kidding me? this is easy" to
ReplyDeleteLevel 2- panting, sweating, thinking I am going to passout "Jillian Michaels you ARE the devil"
Thanks for the warning! I kid! I better be shredded in 30. I hate to even think about level 3!
Good for you girl! I was carb loving alllll summer long and felt crappy, excited to see you on the clean eating train :) Just remember you don't have to be perfect, just do your best and you will see results!
