The Weekend Eve

Did you see the Holly-ween picture Chris made me? That's pretty much what I look like in the morning if I don't get 9 hours of sleep.

Maybe for Halloween, Picmokney will have something that will make me look like a turkey or green bean casserole. Like a ceramic duck on an older lady's porch, I could keep this gig up all year round.

It's Thursday, which is the eve of the weekend. Tomorrow I am going on a field trip with Haven's class to a pumpkin patch. While it's nice to spend some time with him and 20 other runny nosed three year olds alone, that isn't why I choose to the the field-trip mom. I go because I have this fear that another field trip mom would volunteer expecting a leisurely morning at the pumpkin farm, when in reality, Haven will be playing Hide n Seek in the corn maze and Hulk-Smashing other three year olds in the pumpkin patch.

Saturday, we're going with my brother and his girlfriend to the Alabama v Mizzou football game. I've never been to a college football game before, but both of our families are big Alabama fans-- so I will be drinking beer and yelling Roll Tide all day.

I also have about 18 hours worth the shows to watch on DVR. Homeland, Parenthood, The Voice, Tosh, New Girl, Oprah's Life Class...

What are you doing this weekend? Please share.

And while you're at it, check out these funny ladies below, too.

Kristen!! I'm sure you all know how excited I am that I could finally pay KLaw to be my friend. If I would have known it was this exciting, I would have joined a sorority in college. I have only been creeping on Kristen for a good two years now. I think it's safe to say that she has the funniest mom-blog out there. If you can appreciate booze and a cute toddler, please go visit her blog and say Hiiiiii.

Aly-miester.... or Aly McBeal in my phone. My now real life friend, who I am about to travel the US with on a blogger-groupie road show. We met a few weekends ago in Chicago, you can check that post out HERE. Then next month, she is flying to St. Louis, where we will be taking the crazy bus on the road to Tulsa for the weekend (with Molly and Nancy Clue). Gotta see Mama L run the Route 66 Half Marathon! Then if she isn't completely sick of me by then, we are all bunking together, Step Brother's style, in Dallas for Blissdom come March.

And finally, Crista!! Oh-kay... Crista is funny. Like a real dry wit kind of humor. She has lost mucho pedro peso  (see what happens when your mother migrates here from South America and is forced to assimilate-- I don't know any Spanish!!) But really, her posts are funny, she is losing weight like it's the only way to get into Heaven, and in my Forrest Gump voice, "I like her a laawwwt."

Also, Ashleigh sent me an email the other day. She is doing a 5k on Saturday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you know anyone affected by breast cancer, please hop over to her blog HERE. She would like to add their name to the back of her shirt! :)

Also have fun at the Mizzou game. We lived in Columbia for a minute and it was so, so fun on game day. Even if you're rooting for the other team :)

Have fun at the game - but I will be cheering on good ole M.I.Z.Z. - although I REALLY only care about NFL or should I say "Danny Amendola". I can't wait to hear about your blogging trips - yay:)

This weekend, I will be visiting my nephew up at Cardinal Glennon, having my first mother/daugther sleep-over at one of Elle and my friends house, and attending a weenie roast. LOL

  15. I happened upon your blog from Mama L's, and I have to say you crack my shit up. I have been reading for a couple of weeks now, and I get so excited when a post from you shows up in my reader. I am also a St. Louis girl. I am interested in starting a blog, but just don't know where do begin? Do you have any advice for a newbee like me?

Have fun at the MU game. Good thing you are an AL fan, otherwise you might not have a good day :)

    1. Hi Becky,

I usually just respond to comments in emails, but your email isn't linked to your profile. You can fix that by following the steps here:

      http://www.sweetsimplicityblog.com/2009/08/noreplyblogger.html

Where are you in St. Louis? I saw where you had two new blogs under your profile, but I wasn't for sure which one you wanted to use. I love the names of your kids! Anyway, I'd love to help you with your blog-- just shoot me an email! :)

  16. Your picture is hysterical, Chris continues to amaze!

I got wrangled into doing fit stuff all weekend, this time by accident. I hope I get to squeeze in a bottle of red wine on Saturday night.
Have you watched The Mindy Project? It comes on after New Girl. It's hysterical. Add that one to your DVR I really think you would enjoy it!
Can't wait to check out all these blogs! I didn't realize all you fab girls were going to Tulsa together! Oh how I wish I could come with. Can't wait to read that post!
    Happy Friday's Eve Holly!

  17. I hope for your sake they sell beer there. At the UF games, they do NOT sell beer at the game. So you have to get white girl wasted before you even go sit and watch the game for 4 hours, lol. Enjoy ;)

  18. Chris rocks. LOVE your spooky pic! Great gals you got on the blog today!! :)

  19. First, I'm gonna let you cheering for AL when they're playing MIZZOU slide since you're going with family BUT you will have a blast just be ready for LOTS of beer, those kids know how to have fun drunk style. Second, I completely agree with you on the field trips I do the same thing with field trips, fun days at school, girl scouts, and even making copies for the classroom (i know its ridiculous, but i getworried any pedifile can walk in that place so who better than super mom over here! haha)And last but not least, I think my weekend may top yours! Only because i get to help throw the redneck of all redneck baby showers this Sat. with not only N.O. typical babyshower games, but a keg and bonifre! But just so you know, not my idea!! I'm actually a great party planner and when i finally get off my boot-AY maybe you'll see all about those adventures but i'm a sucker for my bestie and her withdrawals from a good time so i'll go along with whatever.

P.S. just so you dont forget your roots...M-I-Z!

  20. The kids school has a rule that if you can only go on one field trip per child/class per year. I think that since Joey has so many orthopedic needs I might be able to bend the rules a bit because like you I'm terrified that some mom will show up thinking that it's only kindergarten and not actually watch Joey. Scares me to pieces. I signed up for the fall field trip in Joey's class (to the pumpkin patch) During parent teacher conferences I mentioned that when they go to The Butterfly House in May I need to be reassured that an actual school employee will help him on and off the bus and ensure he's is sitting by the window (so he doesn't fall off the seat to the floor). His teacher got squirmy and acted like *JUST MAYBE* not enough moms will sign up and I could come along.

Yeah, I'll be there or I'll be a basket case!!

  21. Well done, Chris! Holly, you look positively lovely with fangs! :)

This weekend Pete and I are going to do some sort of cute date thing to celebrate our 1-year. No solid plans yet, but we've kicked around the idea of "some sort of music thing" and "a nice place for dinner," so we're almost there...

Then on Sunday I am attending a wedding fair with my new bff--my brother-in-laws fiance. ;)

  22. I love me a good college football game -- the atmosphere is so amazing! GO HAWKS!!!!

Hmm, this weekend. My husband will be sitting in the rain deer hunting all weekend, so single mom for 2 days, which means I will not be doing ANYTHING. Boo. Guess I'll snuggle under a blanket Saturday afternoon watching This Old House and catching as many football games as possible. GO HAWKS!!!

    Have fun!!! GO HAWKS!!!

  24. We have preschool punkin patch next Wednesday. I have this image in my head of having to beg and bribe Rogue not to escape me in the corn maze. Mama's claustrophobic. The thought of being surrounded by walls of corn AND not being able to find my first born calls for my first ever dose of Xanax. Crazy much?

Im loving that you get to experience college football! Its our favorite fall extracurricular activity, and every year I promise my liver I will not buy season tickets again, but then I forget about it. Have a blast!

  32. OK Holly, I think I give on the button making. I need the little code ordeal for the button, and I can't figure out how to make it. I'm also considering a blog re-design. I have tried to make mine look decent, but it doesn't look clean like everyone elses. Email me the details. :)

  36. Nobody said what they are doing this weekend. What up with that? I'm totally a stalker and want to know that i'm not completely insane. I already know I'm a work-a-holic. Please people let me know i"m not the only one!

Ah the weekend. You do mean extended work hours, right? lol...kinda...
Father-Son basketball camp Saturday. Sounds like time off for Mom, right? Not for the mom who's hubby puts on camp. It was great fun and we had a huge turnout. It was super fun! Just one more weekend to get through. I'll feel so much better once next weekends golf outing is over. It's been fun, but challenging and lots of hard work.

Sounds like you have a fun one planned. Hope it's been great! :)
