Just a quick Blissdom update... I bought my ticket and I am still rooming with Brandi and Aly.... plus now, Pretty Meg is rooming with us, too. Which means, whatever fat-girl weekend we were hoping to have together has been traded for Meg's boot camp. And I cannot wait.
I've never been to a blogging conference before and I really have no expectations. I saw on facebook where people suggested printing out business cards with your blog info and to wearing comfy shoes.
Is anyone else going? I'd love to make plans to meet up. I think there are a few people wanting to meet Brandi, so I'll be tagging along. My only other plans is to see my other Megan one day. Chris and I call her Island-Meg because she lived on an island for a year while her husband was finishing a work assignment. She is quirky and a doll.... Check out her blog HERE.

And in other news, Darci is celebrating the big 30 at the end of the month. Like a crazy person, she wanted a few of us to run a 10k together. I am all signed up and ready to go, but her foot is still giving her problems. If I have to skip this run to have brunch with her, I will be really upset {not}.
And speaking of running, or lack thereof on my side, Laura & Mel are hosting a Running Shoe Linkup today. They want to know what's your favorite running shoe and why.
I heart Laura. She is a California girl, a minimalist after my own heart, and a runner. She blogs over HERE at Serrano Style. When the St Louis Cardinals played the Giants in the World Series, we all had a bet going... and needless to say, Mel and I had to ship her some St. Louis goodies. :)
I'll be checking it out since I don't own a pair of real running shoes. Everyone talks about Brooks, but I would feel like such a poser since I really just do a fat-girl bounce. And I signed up for that half marathon in April... and my longest distance is still five miles. I'm kicking it into high gear this week.
Now, I gotta run {ha ha ha ha}.... Happy Tuesday!

I'm not going to Blissdom but I'd love to meet up with y'all at some point. I don't think Dallas will be the same once y'all get together and I'd like to be there to witness it, ha!
ReplyDeleteI actually didn't like the Brooks shoes I tried on. I think you have to find the shoe that feels the best on your foot! It was difficult for me to let go of wanting the "cute" pair and instead find a pair that worked for me. Good luck on your 10K and girl you better get to training! No injuries!
ReplyDeleteYou are totally getting a bootcamp from me, plus I'm pretty sure Aly is in too :) Yeahhhhhhhhh! Can't wait!! I follow 'Island Megan's' blog too, so fun I'm going to get to meet all these people I 'know' online! You know, we should probably do a 10 miler while you are here......better lace those shoes up!
ReplyDeleteyour longest distance is still longer than mine!!! here's to hoping I get knocked up and you can just blame walking the whole thing on me. {"well I couldn't leave the pregnant girl behind", Holly says to every one else...see, it totally works.}
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting! They need to move Blissdom back to Nashville so all us TN folk can go. = )
ReplyDeleteOMG you crack me up... I am hoping for Blissdom next year (do they do it annually?). I am so small time right now I would feel like a (in the words of Holly - poser).... I am a Brooks girl - get yourself some - you will be HAPPY... Can't wait for Mardi Gras baby. I am still debating on the KC trip... I should just go.. but with Mardi Gras 2 weeks later - E might flip out.. LOL
ReplyDeleteHey girl- my longest is 4 miles so you got me beat!! I would love to do blissdom, but maybe next year. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a blogger but I did got to the MOPS Convention there and I would suggest bringing your own food. For one it is very expensive to eat there, two its not very healthy, three the lines are NUTS, and four it is quite the hike to get back to the main area. Also I would suggest bringing a sweater or snuggie however you roll :) cause it can get chilly. We had the most kick butt vendor show. If y'all are having one go early because the freebies run out quickly. Have fun! :)
ReplyDelete5 miles is really freaking far. I know it doesn't compare to the half you signed up for but don't sell yourself short. 5 miles is good stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous y'all are going to Blisdom! 2014 I wanna go ;).
ReplyDeleteAlso Darci said something to me about not being able to run BUT I would STILL love to meet up with you ladies and FINALLY meet my pretty Holly! :) and Darci!
Have a wonderful Tuesday my love!
And I'll be missing out on the amazingness that will be Blissdom! bah so jealous! Hopefully one of these days I'll make a meet up :) Hope you're having a wonderful week lady!
ReplyDeleteSoon officially going to be a B about Blissdom! I wanted to go, need to go, but alas have ZERO roommate(s). Ugh. You girls SUCK!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of the whole Blissdom thingy... someday I s'ppose!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I want to sign up for a half in September! I've never done anything longer than a 5K, so you're doing better than I am. :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou can do those 13.1 miles come April, I have faith in you - get your ass in gear and get it done!
ReplyDeleteI'm still jealous about Blissdom, but I hope you all have a great time. I plan on going in 2014. I NEED it.
How is it going with Haven's new bed? Any luck yet?
You know what, Holly? I think that maybe the reason you haven't been running much is that in your heart of hearts, you really just want to be a snowboarder. I think you should fulfill your dream and come visit Minnesota. You know you want to! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay a couple things "Pretty Meg is rooming with us, too. Which means, whatever fat-girl weekend we were hoping to have together has been traded for Meg's boot camp" This cracked me up but Im sure its so true lol
ReplyDeleteI finally got fitted for running shoes (i would just buy expensive pretty ones when my husband would say "lets get new work out shoes" I had no idea what I was doing) and they are Brooks Glycerin 10s they are flipping awesome! But if you have a place near you that fits you for shoes you should go try it out and see what they recommend, and then not buy them and go home and buy them online for $30 cheaper!
Also dont forget about stalkerdom 2013 where any DFW readersofblogstoolazytowriteblogs can come have lunch or dinner with you chickas!!! I cant wait to meet you and Megan and whoaaaaa Aly!
Would love to go to Blissdom some day, but they need to host it in Des Moines, ia!!! :) Have fun, good luck w/ the running and get your Brooks on! Sounds like all the cool kids are doing it (which is why i don't have a pair, not one of the cool kids -- yet!). :)

DeleteI am starting to think you are going to need to extend your trip an extra day for me!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a blogging conference before, but I hear that Blissdom is awesome! I can't wait to hear all about it! Take lots of photos and stalk lots of the "big" bloggers, please!
ReplyDeleteI need to go to blissdom. its on my birthday. I'm just not sure I can make it this year with all the exciting new projects on the horizon!
ReplyDeleteSince I still have a "baby blog" I am not going this year, but next year it's on! I cannot wait to see what you all get into :)
ReplyDeleteGet some Brooks!
ReplyDeleteHell, just get some decent, comfy running shoes.
You will not regret it!!
And how 'bout y'all turn that 10K into a (insert however many miles it takes from y'all to me in VA) race for my 30th on January 31st....huh, huh?!? Sounds like fun to me!!
My favorite running shoes are Brooks Pure Cadence and Newton Gravity! The Brooks Pure line is awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous about Blissdom. And so sad that it moved from Nashville to Dallas this year. Boo. I could totally pull a Nashville trip like every other weekend! Hope yall have a blast!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a Blissdom - type thing where I live! Sounds so exciting.
