Cowabunga

It's a given that Haven and Olive will spend their adult years in some kind of therapy. A lot of money will be spent on how they were not treated fairly, with Olive being the obvious victim.

Maybe it's the second child syndrome. I don't know. I was the oldest and I turned out awesome.

But really, by the time parents get to that second kid, they live, learn, and then get Luvs.

Haven has slept in my armpit since the day we have brought him home from the hospital. Did I mention I failed at the big boy bed? Lasted a whole two days. Olive has never even slept in a bassinet. Girlfriend has been in her crib, in her room, since night number one.

Another big difference, I am sure, will be birthday celebrations. Olive's birthday is two weeks before Christmas and the money owed for the personal property taxes on our vehicles. She is going to have a Christmas themed party until she is 12. And the majority if her presents will be re-wrapped and put back under the tree until she is old enough to outsmart me.

Haven on the other hand? If there could be a toddler version of MTV's Sweet 16 than Haven could qualify. His birthday is in February, the same week that I always get my company bonus. Usually tax time is somewhere in there too, so I can buy him the extra stuff he needs like a Buzz Lightyear Ferrari.

This year, we are doing a Ninja Turtles themed party. I asked Kristen (go check out her fab blog design) from First Name Smith and also Little Laws Prints to make Haven's invites. She has made Olive's birthday invites as well as our Christmas card and I am always so happy with what she makes.

And not to get off on a side tangent, but did you know they renamed the Ninja Turtles? They are not Michelangelo  Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael anymore. Just Mikey, Donny, Leo, and Raph.

Anyway, if you see me pinning Ninja Turtle stuff all over pinterest, just know the TMNT are back. :)

And while you're scrolling around today...

Christy from MamaPurls on Etsy makes this adorable knitted scarfs and neck warmers. Her pieces are so cute and original, I just think they would be a great gift for a friend or a hard-to-shop-for kind of person. Go check out her shop page HERE.

Next up is Becka from Busy Becka... and really, just the face behind Kiki la Rue. To say that Becca is busy in an understatement. She is a working mom that runs one of the busiest online boutiques. You can also find her on instagram (@theshoejunkie / @shopkikilarue). Jump over to her personal blog HERE.

And last, but not least, one of my new favorite bloggers.... Chrissy from Mama Chrissy's Chaos.  Like all of us, she is currently trying to get back in shape. She is a mom to one gorgeous little girl and in the middle of adopting a second child. Chrissy bakes, crafts, and is really just a fun blogger. Please go check out her blog HERE.

  2. OMG I'm in love with the TMNT. Is it sad that I used to be in love with Raphael? Like, I had a crush on a turtle. Haha. Oh, and I was totally a victim of second child syndrome. And while I may have a little bitterness (mostly joking) it pushed me to be even greater so that I could get noticed. And I've mostly forgiven my parents by now, haha!

  6. Neither of my kids are getting birthday parties this year. We are doing an every other year thing. Their birthdays are 2 months apart and that shit is expeeeensive! Lily asked for a Scooby Doo party last year. Im not a very good party planner, but I was able to make a pretty epic scooby doo cake.

  7. Yay for planning a birthday party! It's one of my favorite things to do. And I loved TMNT as a kid...I was such a boy!

  8. We are ninja turtle crazy up in here too! Those invitations are so cute! I have to say the new little rap song at the beginning of ninja turtles...is pretty catchy! It's of course not the song from our childhood, but it's pretty good, lol

  11. Wow, this brings back the memories. I have a bin of TMNT of my sweet little boy's that I will never, ever part with. At his TMNT party {I think it was 4} he had his own solo demonstration of his ninja moves. It was awesome. Haven's party is going to rock! And don't worry about things being even...as a girl, Olive will demand her own fair share of the action!

  13. Well, my boys will always have to share a birthday party. And it's around Thanksgiving so they will probably never have many friends attend said party. We are in the tradition of celebrating their "half" birthdays in May. So maybe they won't hate us too much.
I love the TMNT back in the day-my brother had all the cool stuff! I'm glad it's made a come back. I just wish my boys were a bit older to enjoy it.

  14. I love TMNT! Since when did they rename them? are they too long for kids to remember? Kristen did amazing!

  15. Those new TMNT names are ghetto, just saying. And a funny story (to me) -- when I was about 12 and my cousin 8 I had him convinced that I saw the Turtles looking out of a manhole in our town. Seriously, the kid totally believed me. What a shit I was. :)

  16. Oh no, big boy bed failure... this is going to need a blog post of it's own! It's bound to subside at some point... I mean, when he hits puberty he's not going to want to be sleeping in between mom and dad so you'll get your bed back eventually!

  17. Hilarious- mainly because my kids live the SAME life. My son is 2 and his bday is Dec 10th. We totally took a few of his gifts from his bday and regifted them from "Santa" what does he know??

and this time we are LUVS lovers. My oldest only wore Pampers but now for JT? Luvs it is.

  18. You are still one up on me my friend. I don't do invitations... I do emails to my family to tell them when the party is. It is also never at my house. It must be at a venue. Even if the venue is the park down the street. I am not cleaning my house for my family to come over, only to have to clean it for me once they leave. Just isn't happening. But what is going to send my kids to therapy is the cake that comes from Costo. Momma doesn't bake :)

But, I do have to say. I refuse to buy Luvs. Those just aren't working for me. Molly was a Pampers/Huggies only girl. Brady is strictly Costco brand. I love them. I think they are better than Pampers/Huggies

  20. Love your blog and your little girl's name! I have an 8.5 month old named Stella. My husband and I had orginially chosen the name Olive. We both loved it and I knew I wanted to name my daughter that the first time I ever watched Little Miss Sunshine. And then... my mother's opinion came loud and proud. She swayed me to change my mind and being the dutiful, obiding youngest child that I am, I did. I LOVE the name Stella and its meant to be her moniker, but just thought you'd enjoy the story. (And even though I am not currently in therapy. I've been on that couch many, many times, and EVERYTHING is the parents' fault. Seriously!!!) HA!

  21. Haven's birthday party invites look adorable! I guess that's what I have to look forward to in a few years.

  22. Those nicknames are stupid! I like the real deal long as names!
And I LOVE that pic of the two of them in their TMNT gear!

  23. You have the cutest party themes! Christmas and otherwise. Haven looks over the top adorable in the turtle outfit! Too cute! Am I to old to be jealous of Olive's hari? Because I am. girlfrien is gorgeous! Hope you're having a great day Holly!
