In My Makeup Bag

My friend, Trista, over at Stewart Street is hosting a linkup today called "What's in Your Makeup Bag?"

I can be known as Homely Holly.

I am the whitest shade of white, freckled, with "strawberry patches" around my nose.

This is what's in my makeup bag... Some I love... and some I just keep buying because I don't know what else to buy.

See that love of my life?? That's the Lorac Double Feature from Sephora. I had been looking for better under eye coverage for awhile. When Aly was in town, we went to Sephora to get some lashes. I told the lady that I wanted some under eye coverage-- like I was on the Oprah Show. You know how her guests look so awake? I wanted some whiteness, too. It's amazing. The bottom part goes on for coverage and then the top part goes on as a highlighter almost. Getcha some.

Other than that, I am going on four years wearing bareMinerals makeup. I like it because it lasts me awhile, but it's not giving me the coverage I want anymore.

Great Lash mascara? The best. I have tried Department store mascaras, the tube mascaras, the mascaras with primer, mascaras with voluminous brush... But I always go back to the old school kind. Two coats make me look like a kitty cat. :)

Primer: Clinique pore refining solutions (invisible light)
Foundation: bareMinerals fairly light N10
Blush: bareMinerals warmth
Eye concealer: Lorac Double Feature (DF1)
Mascara: Maybelline Great Lash (blackest black)
Eye liner: Revlon Colorstay liquid liner (blackest black)
Eyebrow pencil: Almay (04 Rich Mocha)
Eye shadow: Neutrogena mineral sheers (sand 40)
Lip gloss: Clinique superbalm gloss (04 Rootbeer)

Go link up with Trista... Her post should be up around 9am. :)

And here are some new blogs to add to your reader. :)

Cari from The Crazy Kents is probably one of the nicest women around. I know this first hand because she really helped us with the MLPay it Forward campaign. She has a big, big heart. Cari is doing Operation Red Bikini and has already lost 10 pounds. If we lived closer, we would have a perfectly matched play date. Please go check out her blog HERE.

Daliene from Daliene's Alamo Adventures is a Texas girl and a teacher (and I am obsessed with her name).  She bakes, runs, loves Target and thrift shopping. Her blog is fun and fresh and I really like her a lot. Don't you love your blog friends that leave good old fashion comments? That's Daliene. Please hop over to her blog HERE and say hello.

And finally, Angela from Honey I Shrunk the Mom. I heart Angela! She is such a great motivation to kick my rear into gear. She has already lost almost 60 pounds... and still wants to lose 45 more. I love her blog because she doesn't just post about weight loss-- she posts a little bit of everything. Please check out her weight loss collage on her About Me page. Jump over to her blog HERE.

  2. If you want to stick with a powder foundation and are tired of bare minerals try Laura Gellar! You can purchase at Ulta! It's the best!!!

  3. I use Bare Minerals and have the same issue in the winter (I'm also pale as all get out so maybe it's a midwestern girl thing?). I've started mixing a little Revlon Coverstay liquid foundation with my primer to cover up my daily Rudolph nose, so far it seems to get me through the day a lot better than just primer and powder.

  5. I use bare minerals too and love it! I use their primer...I think it's jut called prime time...but if I put that one first the makeup stays 100 times better and covers well. I use their new pressed powder rather than the loose stuff and I also think that covers better too. That's all :)

  7. I used Bare Minerals for half a decade, too. I recently switched to Urban Decay Naked Foundation and LOVE it. I use their foundation brush, too. So easy to get it on (TWSS) and it's lighter weight than most foundations. It's like a gateway foundation. :-) I'm going to have to try that Lorac. My genetic under-eye bags are ridic.

  10. I have been waiting for a link up like this!!! If no one did it, I was gonna put on my big girl panties and do it myself. Love me some make-up and of course seeing what everyone else is using. But my post probably wont be up until 9 pm :)

I have always wanted to try bare minerals. The infomercials make it look amaze balls! Gotta hide these freckles :) I also love when under my eyes look white white white! It just looks so clean to me.

  12. I might have to hit up Sephora this weekend! I've been wanting to try a brightener...but I don't know about the under-eye concealer bit...whenever I put anything under my eyes, it's too cakey/thick. I need something to lighten up these deep-set eyes, though!

  13. I need to try that Sephora under-eye double feature! It sounds amazing and I'm always looking for some under-eye coverage that actually works.

  14. I'm pretty plain Jane when it comes to makeup too, plus I could probably give you a run for your money in the paleness department.

  15. I need tot ry that under eye enhancer STAT. Thanks for sharing Holly! Happy Thursday!

  16. Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner is my shit! I cannot for the life of me find a concealer that hides my bags (on bags on bags) so maybe I should give this one a shot.

  17. I love it, I want to wear make-up, but I don't wear any. I don't know how to pick it out, how to put it on, NOTHIN. I'm pretty terrible about being a "girl." I've told Aly that she needs to help me with this, so maybe when you come into town (when is that gonna be?!?) the two of you can show me how and what to buy!!

  18. Great Lash mascara never fails! Like you, I've tried every new thing advertised, but I always go back to those pink and green bottles!

  19. Have I told you lately that I love you! ♥ Thanks, Mama! Wish I would've seen this link-up before I posted on my blog today. I may have to do this link-up a little later. I love seeing what's in other people's bag o' tricks!

  20. I've been using Bare Minerals for years and LOVE it! I ran into the same problem with it not covering as well as it "used" too about 6 months ago. They have come out with a new Matte version of their powder and let me tell you-that did the trick!! Covers much better, there is no sheen and lasts all day! Also, I noticed, or maybe it was pictured that you don't have the Kabuki bare minerals brush...that ,makes a difference when applying the powder. And don't be afraid to layer the powder girl, it won't look "caky"!

  21. I have been using that Lorac stick too for not quite a year now and I am in love with it too! I went into ULTA asking for a good undereye and good pimple coverage haha, and she recommended that and I was nervous at first because it was spendy and I didnt think I would use the highlighter and it would be a waste. I loved the highlighter best and it would run out first each time! I like that the stick lasts a long time too, and it really does conceal amazing!

  22. Aw shucks! Are you calling me OLD Holly? lol :) I am freakin old. You have my permission to name your next child Daliene. I think I will make my first VLOG so you can hear me pronounce Daliene in my hick, Oklahoman accent. It might ruin it for you though. Thank you for the shout out. It was a lovely treat after a long day! OH and my newest makeup addiction is Smashbox BB Cream. That chick over at Pretty Shiny Sparkly always has me over-spending.

  23. I wore bare minerals forever, but I had to switch to a fuller coverage foundation and love it!!! Currently trying out the Naked foundation by urban decay. I like it a lot!! I've only worn it two days, but it's very light with great coverage!!

  24. I did bareMinerals for a bit but it didn't give me the coverage I needed! Maybe it would have been better with the primer I use now.

  25. Ehhh warmth is too blah and dark for you! You need to try blush by Stila- something brighter :) You should totally get the urban naked foundation and brush, I switched from bare minerals and LOVE IT. Plus it's easy to put on, promise, swirl and buff just the same, just no tapping. haha.

  26. I am the worst makeup person ever. I just need to quit being cheap and go to a makeup counter and show me what the hell I am doing wrong and what I need to do.

    Thanks for the new reads~

  27. Get some L'Oreal BB Cream. Put some of that on before the bare minerals. I recently added that to my bag of tricks and it makes a big difference. Plus it's real light weight like the bare minerals so I didn't feel too cakey.
