Happy Hour and Running Retirement

Last night, I went to Happy Hour with Melanie and Becky. I have not been to happy hour on a school night in a long time. And even though I don't go to school anymore... Sunday-Thursday are still school nights to me.

I told Chris I would be gone for an hour.

Big Holly came home 3 1/2 hours later. Gotta love good company. And since we are the only bloggers not doing the cleanse this week, we drank beer, and ate pretzels and pizza.

We were also trying to squeeze in and get a picture of the three of us while holding our own phones. We didn't want to be the 30-something's at the bar on Monday night asking the bartender to take our picture. But maybe we should have been those people...

Anyway, Mel's post yesterday got me thinking that I only have 30 something days until this half marathon is over. This, without question, will be my run into running retirement. I haven't found the love for it yet. The only love I feel is when I am done and that is usually accompanied by diarrhea.

So needless to say, tonight I will be knocking out 7 miles. Skinny Meg is running 10 with me at Blissdom, so Chris should start getting the wording together for my obituary now. If you're scrolling through IG tonight and you see a purple lookin' slamhog... have no fear-- that's just Big Holly going farther than 6 miles.

Ok... I'm out! Also, I have a fun linkup planned for Friday with one of my fav male bloggers.

I love that word, mostly because you're the only one that says it but it fits so appropriately :)

Anyway I will be praying for you frick I can still only barely just by the hair on my chinny chin chin run a little over a mile without stopping !!!!

  20. I promise you this: Your blog is the only one that I literally laugh out loud (okay- more like snort) when I'm reading it. Your funnies just come out of nowhere ("The only love I feel is when I am done and that is usually accompanied by diarrhea.") but you're speaking truth, girl, and we all know it.

Thanks for keeping it real (yo?).

  22. not cleaning here either ... something about that fiber drink they are gagging down just makes my head say NO.. Every single one of them has used that phrase - that should be enough to scare a sane person.

  23. I just don't get the clenses..........sure it would be nice to poop out an extra 30 pounds but meh......it's also nice to have a Pepsi in the morning and cookies in the evening.

And about the running, I think that's the thing with runners.....it's the reward of completing the marathon, etc. . . .I think I'm allergic to running because .....I just don't like the way I feel afterward.

You'll do great though and I bet you'll still want to run.

  24. Not doing "the cleanse" but did start a new diet this week and this is the sugar detox week...bleh! Beer and pretzels sound so tasty :)

You can do 7 miles!!! :)

  25. I'm 100 percent supportive for your running retirement- start a revolution, be the first to blog about how awesome it is to be hot and not run 6 miles/day....and make sure you fill out the proper paperwork of who you're gonna will those running shoes to! Ha, that was my first thought when reading this post...good luck on your run tonight! :)

  26. 7 miles, good luck girl!! Don't worry, I will need an obituary too and I am 100% okay with this half being my half retirement party. I think I will stick to the 5's. = )

  27. I'm thinking about running straight into retirement...or a Cheesecake Factory, whichever I find first! lol

  28. No cleanse going on here! Y'all have fun at the half!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fun! Where did y'all go for Happy Hour? This post made me laugh out loud (I think the crazy kids say LOL for that) two times.

  30. I had a great time last night! It was weird going out on a school night. Can't wait for your link up!

  31. I hope your 7 miles went well, it looks like you guys had a lot of fun at the bar. Wish I could have been there! Maybe I should have just photoshopped my pic in a la Kimmyyy. ;)

  32. Prior to being knocked up again I decided to retire from running. I was a runner before baby #1. I could run 5 miles a day and pretty much stay skinny while eating and drinking whatever I wanted. Then I got pregnant, got huge, had the baby, and then assumed I would run and I would lose weight. I was wrong. I was tired and I found out I hated running. So I quit. Started walking and watching what i ate. I was back to my prepregnancy weight in no time!! Then I got pregnant. Again. Soooo, this time I'm watching what I eat and walking and know ill never run again.

  33. Bwhahaha. You will live, promise!

  34. Girlfriend, I am not doing the cleanse either!!!! I am so not a runner. I will jog my chunky ass round the block with my dogs but 'being a runner' is not for me. I know you and Megan will kill that 10 miles together :)

  35. Looks so fun!!

I'm a school-night happy hour master extraordinaire. I used to go bowling and to bingo on school nights too. Because I'm 80. But I just can't hang with the weeknight bowling crowd anymore.

Hope your running is going well!
