I am in week 3 of this Green Giant campaign on Confessions of a Diet Cheater... and ol' girl is down 4 pounds. The key for me has been going old school and recording my food intake/calories again. Constantly entering what I shovel into my mouth has one of the biggest factors. It has been the key in helping me shave almost 10 minutes off of my back to back half marathons.
A few weeks ago, I posted (then removed) from instagram a picture of my frozen meal for lunch. People were kind of upset that I was limiting my calories for lunch. I was all over here thinking that I made a better choice than going out to lunch with my co-workers. My mind set was that it was easy and the calories were okay.
Since tracking my calories with Lose It app HERE, I am eating so much more food for the same amount of calories. I went grocery shopping last night and then came home and washed, chopped, and prepped for the week. Jenn and Tim got me all into food preppin' and it seriously makes a big difference in my nightly routine. I am trying out a few recipes I found HERE. Green Giant's website has a bunch of recipes for quick 30 minute meals, dinners that only require a few ingredients, and even breakfast foods.
One of my big diet cheats is picking up food on my way home from work. I was doing this 3-4 nights a week, including weekends. Now, it's about once a week and I am tracking that food on the Lose It app. We are saving money and I feel like we are eating more.
It's hard coming home from work, picking up the kids, getting dinner going, making sure they don't give all their dinner to the dog, cleaning them up, cleaning up the kitchen, and then putting them to bed before I can have some down time. So I was eating a lot of take out and then nibbling all night.
As soon as I saw how much food I was packing for the same amount of calories as one of my frozen lunch meals, without all the sodium, I have been hooked. And I feel good.
The hilarious Dr. V left me some advice. She read my Fort Wayne post when I was feeling all bloated and defeated after that race. Even just one week of cleaning up my diet took almost 10 minutes off my back to back half marathons... and I am excited about the third half in a row this weekend.
You know that feeling up being on your heavy-for-you-side and just feeling like blah? Well, I am over it. I'm owning Big Holly and she is about to lean and mean. I just gotta keep up on the food prepping and stay away from my old flame, Take Out.
And speaking of Diet Cheats... this chart totally called me on my shit. :) I am the nibbler, the kid meal finisher, and one-timer. Wash, rinse, repeat. What kind of cheater are you? Found out HERE.
This post, and the four pounds lost, were sponsored by Green Giant. Getcha some.
