First things first, the winner of the custom blog design by Hubby Jack is Wendy B.! Thanks to everyone who entered. I even decided to change up my design again last night. The last one wasn't coming together like we wanted, so after I found a font that I loved, I let him take control. He loves it when that happens.

So as you know, yesterday I had my third half marathon in five weeks. I am getting faster, but I didn't PR from my very first half marathon back in April, when my ass still fit into my pants. My finish time was 2:35:52, which I am pretty proud of considering I ended the last 5 miles in a lot of pain. That's almost 10 minutes off my time from the Fort Wayne race last week.
One person got the closest to guessing my time, but their name was unknown and their comment didn't connect to an email. Then the next best time was guessed by two people, so I just took the first person's guess. So Ms. Megan, pick out a Ruffles of Love tank and shoot me an email.
Anyway, back to my Excuse Fest on the race. First of all, Mel being the awesome friend that she is, didn't even sign up for the race, but drove 45 minutes over to my house at 6am to run it with me. I needed the Redemption Race after walking a lot of the half marathon in Fort Wayne.
The thing is, is that I have been great for the first 5-6 miles, but after that, my right knee and the inside curve of my right foot start throbbing. It feels like my knee needs to pop, and the foot kicks out to the side as I run.
Here are my split times to show how I fell apart after mile 6 (look at Chip Pace... I have no idea what Gun Pace means and I am in denial about those numbers). We even went a bit slower starting out, just so we could last longer. When I have been training on my mid-week runs, I average about a 9:40 pace.
Obviously, the end just went to shit. But again, I am really proud of myself for sticking it out. It wasn't easy hauling my ass up a hill, only to turn the corner and realize that it was only mile 11. I pretty much gave up the last two miles and walked/slow bounced it. The best part of the race was that Chris and the kids walked down to the bottom of our subdivision hill to watch me run. Haven was so happy and gave me the biggest hug as I ran by. That really got me up the Hill of Death.
When I crossed the finish line, Mel suggested that I go to the Stretch Tents and have them rub me out. We have never done this at a race before, but I was in a lot of pain, so figured I would give it a shot. I got a young kid, with bright red hair, who told me he was in the Physical Therapy club. He stretched out each calf before he got to my hamstrings. I shit you not, as soon as he lifted my left leg, it sounded like air leaving a balloon. I was mortified. So I got up before he could do the other leg. I wanted to take Mel to the food trucks for lunch but told her I needed my own bathroom as soon as humanly possible.
Moving forward, in order to finish the full, I need to cut a little bit of weight, get a new pair of running shoes, and probably some insoles. Whatever it takes to bow out in style. I'm not a quitter by any means, but I am a bitcher on every level.
Speaking of bitching... Running is giving me The Bitch Wrinkle!
You know the wrinkle I am talking about... those ladies that just looked pissed off at the world all the time. Well, this is my face for the whole 2 1/2 hours when I run. Not only am I going to need a new right knee when this rodeo is over, I am also going to need botox.
Here is a collage to show you The Struggle.
And now to spotlight two awesome runners, I hope you check out these fabulous ladies...
Theresa from A Change of Pace is the Running Queen. She is a nurse that just started running a few years ago. Because of her hard work, she has lost a lot of weight and found this athletic little body. Theresa is a half marathon fanatic and is always so positive and such a happy person. Please head over to her page HERE and be sure to add her to your bloglovin' feed HERE.
And of course, Taylor, from Mama Tay LeMay. Taylor's before and after pictures are amazing. Not only did she shed a few pounds, she also got a new look.
